101 - Basic Positioning

POSTURE: KEEP YOUR HEAD ABOVE THE HIPS
Straight column alignment, as if you are lifting weights
When the head is pushed down, you have to move your hips (you can lower you hips to keep with the principle above, but do not duck)
When in the clinch, make yourself heavy.
Three distances:
1) Controlling the inside of the wrists - Hand fighting to control the inside space
Hand fighting: Reach with elbows tucked in
T-Rex Arms as you are fighting for controls
Breaking grips
2) Controlling the underarms in the inside
Double underhooks (Dominant) -
One underhook each (Neutral) -
Keeping the outside arm tucked against the opponent underhook
Always closed your elbows
Look for double underhook
3) Controlling the head in the inside
Pulling opponent heads down
Reach higher in the head
Hand reaching: Your fingers should point to your own face
Always Fight to defend YOUR OWN POSTURE - You can swing the arm in and posture or you can frame in opponents shoulder column
Always Be Breaking your opponent posture (Drop their head)
